Quality concerns paved my path to an SLR but I always keep a close eye on developments with compact cameras. Something smaller would often be nice. I followed the announcement of the new Leica M9 which, although an impractical business proposition, made me curious about the Leica look hype.
As far as I can tell, that look consists largely of a very shallow depth-of-field, even for landscapes, along with some vignetting. Hey, I can do that. Of course, if you've spent $15,000 on a pocket-full of little lenses to go along with your M9, you may also want to emphasize the ever-ephemeral micro-contrast and drawing style of these lenses. Although I may pine for a quality compact, I suppose I'll have to forgo those inscrutable qualities for now.

The glasses were her choice. She insisted, as she often does, on a walk. She was fascinated by the leaves and twigs but quickly succumbed to flu fatigue.
